  • DESCRIPTION

Metastasis is the main cause of mortality in patients with breast cancer. The most common type of tumor is luminal, which usually presents positive hormonal receptors, and represents 80% of cases.

One of the characteristics of this type of cancer is the long period of latency after treatment. After a lengthy period with an absence of symptoms, the tumor may reappear.

This project aims to draw the map of tumor cells in order to know how they evolve with the administration of treatment: which of them contribute to growth, dissemination, latency, metastasis and resistance to therapy.

The results will contribute to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of metastasis and drug resistance, and the identification of new therapeutic targets to design new drugs.

The ultimate goal is to improve the clinical management of breast cancer patients to prevent possible future relapses.
