We're taking on the challenges of health in a globalised world

We collaborate in projects that strive to achieve a world in which where you're born doesn't determine your chances of living.

A global focus is required to tackle the growing complexity and diversity of health challenges.

With this aim in mind, in 2016 the Global Health Institute of Barcelona (ISGlobal) and the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) joined forces, making ISGlobal one of the pioneering centres in combining research into infectious diseases with research into non-communicable diseases and environmental causes.

ISGlobal will address the new challenges in global health and particularly:

    • Geographical and social inequalities.

    • Infectious diseases and chronic diseases in transition.

    • Urbanisation.

    • How the climate and environment impact human health.

Since 2009, ”la Caixa” Foundation has supported the experimentation phase for the malaria vaccine in eight centres in Africa, thereby contributing to global efforts to eradicate this disease via the ”la Caixa” Foundation Against Malaria programme.
