”la Caixa” Banking Foundation, an organisation committed to sustainability, bases its actions on a strategic plan as part of its corporate social responsibility policy. One fundamental aspect involves protecting the environment, reducing the impact on the environment and energy consumption of the activities and services carried out at its main work centres.

In this regard, the Foundation implements a system that integrates an environmental management in compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and an energy management system in compliance with ISO 50001:2018, requirements in its work centers (CaixaForum in Barcelona, Madrid, Palma, Tarragona, Lleida, Girona, Zaragoza, and Sevilla, EspaiCaixa in Girona, Madrid and Murcia and Palau Macaya). Those centers are dedicated to cultural, social, scientific and educational dissemination through exhibitions, concerts, debates, educational programs, etc., with a commitment to:

  • Bring our Environmental and Energy Management in line with our context and organisational culture, implementing the necessary procedures to ensure the continued improvement of our environmental and energy performance.

  • Adopt the necessary measures to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations applicable to our centres' activities and installations (both locally and also at a regional, state and European level), as well as all agreements entered into by ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation through its centres.

  • Protect the environment and prevent contamination through the sustainable use of natural resources and the efficient use of water and energy, and promote practices to reduce, re-use and recycle waste.

  • Promote energy saving and optimize energy efficiency in the facilities and activities of the centers, while advancing the acquisition of energy efficient products, services and equipment.

  • Train, raise awareness and involve each employee by engaging them in our environmental and energy management and ensure our environmental and energy guidelines are passed on to suppliers and subcontracted firms.

  • Encourage transparent communication and inform all stakeholders (workers, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, institutions, etc.) in order to familiarise them with our environmental and energy policy and establish cooperative relations with them.

The overall aim of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation, through its work centres, is to help improve the environment and lessen climate change, thereby benefitting all society.
