Jaume Giró, born in Badalona in 1964, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Fundación Bancaria Caixa d’Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona, “la Caixa” since June 2014 until December 2019, and he was also a member of the Strategy Committee of CriteriaCaixa, SAU the last two years.

    He has a degree in Information Sciences from the University of Navarra (1982-87), and he is a graduate of Business Administration and Management from ESADE (1992-93). During his tenure at the university, he worked in the department of Public Opinion, with Professor José Luis Dader, and cooperated with the Diario de Navarra and La Vanguardia.

    In 1987 he joined the Europa Press news agency, first as a writer and then as Head of the Economics Section in Barcelona. In 1990 he entered the company, Catalana de Gas, as the Head of Communications. In June 1991 he was appointed Director of External Relations of Gas Natural SDG, in this position he managed communications and the design and implementation of the new brand for this leader in the gas sector, the result of a merger of Catalana de Gas with Gas Madrid. In 1994 he became Corporate Director of External Relations of the Gas Natural Group, and in 1995 he was also appointed Chief of Staff of the Chairperson's office. He joined the group's management committee at the age of 32.

    In November 2004, Jaume Giró was appointed Managing Director of Communications and the Chairperson's Office for Repsol YPF. In addition, from May 2007 to June 2010, he was Chairman of PETROCAT and from April 2007 to April 2009 was a director of PETRONOR.

    He joined the "la Caixa" Group in March 2009, first as Executive Director in the areas of communication, branding, sponsorship and institutional relations, then as Deputy General Manager of CaixaBank, SA, and in June 2014 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fundación Bancaria “la Caixa”.

    Jaume Giró is Chairman of Corporate Excellence (Centre for Reputation Leadership), a "think tank" on matters of reputation and intangible assets that brings together 15 of the main Ibex companies, and he is Chairman of the Sponsorship Council of the Fundació Gran Teatre del Liceu. Additionally, he presides the discussion forum, Barcelona Tribuna, he is deputy chairman of the Societat Econòmica Barcelonesa d’Amics del País (SEBAP) and deputy chairman of the Association of Communication Directors (DIRCOM).
