  • THE PROGRAMME

    What is leadership for learning?

With the aim of transforming our country in educational terms, EduCaixa has created a professional development programme for teachers: its Leadership for Learning Programme.

International evidence shows that pedagogical leadership is one of the most important drivers for educational transformation and a key factor in the sustainability of innovation. Educational transformation requires educational organisations to place learning at the heart of everything they do and, consequently, everyone who forms a part of these centres must know how to lead learning processes, both in-house and external.

Leadership for learning is seen as leadership shared among all teachers. Its impact goes beyond the management team and also affects the teaching team, the classroom and the centre, promoting an improvement in the quality of student learning and the system as a whole.

Leadership for learning turns schools into "learning organisations" and teaching teams into "professional learning communities".

  • GOALS

    What are the goals?

The programme aims to train, increase the value, strengthen and transform the role played by the management teams in educational centres in order to improve their pupils' educational performance.

Well-run schools with good leadership teams enjoy a healthy academic performance and a better, more harmonious atmosphere. We therefore intend to roll out this experience throughout Spain to spread a culture of leadership and improve education.

  • WHO RUNS IT?

    Who runs the programme?

EduCaixa implements the Leadership for Learning Programme through a team of experts and academics in Spain and also in collaboration with one of the most internationally prestigious teacher training and school management schools. The Institute of Education (IOE) of the University College London (UCL) is a worldwide leader and benchmark for education faculties thanks to its experience and impact, both nationally and also through its work with educational systems all over the world.

  • WHO'S IT FOR?

    Who's the programme aimed at?

The programme is aimed at teachers who already form part of the management team at their educational centres or who wish to take on this role in the near future.

Teachers must present themselves in pairs (both must be from the same educational centre).

50 pairs of teaching leaders will be chosen from 50 schools throughout Spain, to be trained and guided during a whole academic year so they can implement improvements in their centre by applying leadership for learning principles.

  • HOW IS IT IMPLEMENTED?

    How is the programme implemented?

The programme is made up of three blocks of face-to-face training, each lasting three days, given by the IOE in the months of July 2023 and February and July 2024.

The teaching leaders selected will be guided by a programme facilitator throughout the academic year (September 2023 – July 2024), with the aim of them implementing improvements in their educational centre by applying leadership for learning principles.

Learning groups will also be set up with other educational centres to share knowhow and provide mutual support while the whole improvement process is being implemented. Each group will be coordinated by a programme facilitator.
