Every 60 seconds, 3 children die from causes avoidable with simple vaccines.
To end this situation, on 2008, ”la Caixa” Foundation became the first private shareholder in Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in Europe, and together they created the Business Alliance for Child Vaccination, an initiative that fights against infant mortality in underprivileged regions through vaccinations at a young age.
Thanks to this alliance, we are managing to reduce the number of premature deaths in the affected areas, increase life expectancy and, in general, shape a better future for the towns and cities.
The collaboration, which has lasted over 10 years, has resulted in the Deccenials a generation that has brought back hope to this cause and shown that it is possible make a difference to the fate of these children.
”la Caixa” Foundation and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance are offering the opportunity to join the fight against infant mortality, opening up participation to CaixaBank employees and customers as well as society at large and companies as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility through the Business Alliance for Child Vaccination.
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is the first global, public-private alliance fighting against infant mortality. Its mission is to save the lives of children and protect the health of the most vulnerable people.
ISGlobal, the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, is also involved with the Business Alliance for Child Vaccination as a strategic partner. ISGlobal has joined the Evaluation Advisory Committee of Gavi's civic society organisations or CSOs. This Committee, made up of 19 members from 15 different countries, aims to coordinate the activities of more than 3,000 civic society organisations that belong to the Alliance, working to ensure the vaccines reach all children.
The long history of ISGlobal in the field of maternal and child health make the Institute a strategic partner for ”la Caixa” Foundation in the child vaccination project.
