The ”la Caixa” Foundation's commitment to contemporary art is embodied in its Collection of Contemporary Art, now well into its fourth decade, and its Call for Projects Support for Creation, which includes, since 2012, the Comisart call for projects by young curators and, since 2018, the Production call for projects.
Support for Creation '22: Production aspires to become a benchmark initiative in Spain and Portugal that provides artists with the funding and professional support they need to produce an artwork with a secure future.
This call for projects to produce artwork is aimed at solo artists or groups of artists aged 18 or over, with Spanish or Portuguese nationality or residency, who already have a project in mind or under way in collaboration with a third party (museum, gallery or other kind of art institution) and who need support to produce an artwork.
In addition to submitting a project and timetable, artists should also draw up a budget setting out production costs and fees and should show that a third party has committed to exhibiting the artwork and securing its future.
Accepted artworks will be produced during the following two years and will benefit from the resources and advice of the ”la Caixa” Foundation exhibitions team.
Following completion of the project for which the artwork in question was created, each artwork will be assessed by the Acquisitions Committee, which will decide whether or not to acquire it for the Collection of Contemporary Art.
