ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY POLICY

”la Caixa” Foundation, an organisation committed to sustainability, bases its actions on a strategic plan in line with its corporate social responsibility policy. One fundamental aspect of this involves protecting the environment and reducing the environmental impact and energy consumption resulting from the activities and services carried out at its main work centres.

At its operational sites, ”la Caixa” Foundation implements an approach that integrates an environmental management system as per the ISO 14001:2015 standard and an energy management system as per the ISO 50001:2018 standard at its centres (the Science Museum CosmoCaixa, the CaixaForum Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Palma, Girona, Lleida, Tarragona, Macaya and Valencia, the Gardens of Cap Roig and the Espai ”la Caixa” Foundation in Girona, Madrid and Murcia). The aim of these sites is to spread culture, science, education and social support through exhibitions, concerts, debates, educational programmes, etc., being committed to:

  • Adapting its environmental and energy management in line with its context and organisational culture, implementing the necessary processes to continually improve its environmental and energy performance.

  • Adopting the necessary measures to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and those related to the use and consumption of energy and energy efficiency applicable to our centres' activities and installations (both locally and at a regional, state and European level), as well as all the arrangements and agreements entered into by ”la Caixa” Foundation through its centres.

  • Protecting the environment and preventing contamination by sustainably using natural resources, efficiently using water and energy and encouraging the practices of reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

  • Promoting energy savings and optimising energy efficiency in its centres' facilities and activities, at the same time as increasingly acquiring energy-efficient products, services and equipment.

  • Training, raising awareness and engaging each worker, involving them in our environmental and energy management and passing on our environmental and energy guidelines to our suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Encouraging communication based on criteria of transparency and inform all stakeholders (workers, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, institutions, etc.) to familiarise them with our environmental and energy policy and establish cooperative relations with them.

The overall aim of ”la Caixa” Foundation, through its operational sites, is to help improve the environment and mitigate climate change, thereby benefiting all society.
